A Marenisco man has been arraigned in the 98th district court on OWI charges.
Brian Berquist, 57 years old of Marenisco Township, was arraigned on Friday in 98th district court for two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, and one count of manslaughter.
Berquist’s charges stem from a fatal accident that occurred last week, on Wednesday. He was the driver of a vehicle that lost control while traveling on M-64. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene. Berquist and a second passenger were transported and later released from a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Michigan State Police note the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
Berquist’s bond was set at 50000 dollars.
The district court will schedule a probable cause hearing and preliminary exam.
