Jack Flaherty struck out nine over six innings, as the Tigers blanked the Cubs 4-0 yesterday. Flaherty allowed just two hits. Spencer Torkelson got Detroit off to a quick start by doubling home two runs in the first inning. The other two runs scored on a Riley Greene single in the fifth.
The Tigers have today off, and open a series in Baltimore tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers outhit the Padres 4-3 yesterday, but lost the game 1-0. Manny Machado’s home run off Rob Zastryzny came after Freddy Peralta had held San Diego to just one hit over the first six.
The Brewers host the Braves tonight. Aaron Civale will pitch against Chris Sale.
Milwaukee added some outfield depth by claiming Drew Avans off waivers from Athletics. He’s been assigned to Nashville.
Former Tigers and Brewers pitcher Tyler Alexander has signed a contract with the White Sox. Alexander opted to become a free agent after Milwaukee designated him for assignment last week.
NHL
The Panthers and Oilers will resume the Stanley Cup Championship Series tonight in Florida. The series is tied 1-1.
NBA
The Thunder zapped the Pacers 123-107 last night, to even the NBA Championship Series at one win per team.

Fishing
Saturday’s Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament drew 142 teams, and paid out $35,640 in cash awards.
The Meat Manglers team took the salmon division title, with a catch of 43.49 pounds. Complete Chaos was a close second, with 41.66 pounds, and Fish Tank was third, with 38.78 pounds.
The Makin Trouble II team caught the biggest salmon, at 19.3 pounds.
Perennial contenders Lyberg and Lyberg earned the lake trout division crown, with a catch of 64.24 pounds. The Pequaming Pirates were well back in second place, with 44.59 pounds, including the day’s biggest lake trout at 22.4 pounds. Team LaRock placed third, with 39.78 pounds.
Maxed Out logged the biggest brown trout at 7.9 pounds, and Net-N-Yet netted the biggest steelhead at 6.72 pounds.
The Baraga County Next Gen Committee, which organizes the tournament, also noted that 20 pounds of salmon fillets, and more than 80 pounds of lake trout fillets that fishermen didn’t want were donated to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Pow Wow and Cultural Committees.
