The Keweenaw Community Foundation has launched a comprehensive survey to gather input from residents across the western Upper Peninsula.
The “Building Our Futures” survey, launched earlier this week, seeks responses from residents living in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties, as well as members of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
The foundation says the region has many communities that depend on forests for recreation, tourism, logging and other industries. Economic, environmental and social shifts have reshaped how these industries function in surrounding communities.
The survey aims to inform funding priorities, partnerships and initiatives for the future of the western Upper Peninsula. The Keweenaw Community Foundation will accept survey responses until April 6.
Executive Director Robin Meneguzzo says community development works best when it’s informed directly by the people who live in the area. The foundation’s research through the survey will help the region better understand what is working in communities and how communities can come together to improve residents’ lives.
The first 120 respondents will receive a $25 gas gift card. More details about the Building Our Futures Survey are available here.
