The Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup for the second time last night, smothering the Golden Knights 3-0 in game six of the championship series. At age 37, Carolina captain Jordan Staal became the oldest winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs’ Most Valuable Player.

The Tigers and the Guardians were rained out yesterday. That game will be made up on September 4th.

The Brewers blanked the Phillies 4-0 yesterday. Kyle Harrison gave up just three hits over six innings, to boost his season record to 8-1. Jackson Chourio’s solo home run in the first inning turned out to be all the Crew needed. Blake Perkins added a three-run shot in the fourth inning – his first homer of the year.
The Brewers have today off, and welcome the Guardians tomorrow. Robert Gasser will pitch against Slade Cecconi.
Milwaukee is reportedly poised to bring shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt up from Nashville for Tuesday’s game. Pratt was recently signed to a massive long-term contract.
