Geologists, paleontologists, and archeologists come across interesting rocks, gems, and minerals when out in the field. The Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club makes it easier to find precious gems, interesting minerals and astounding fossils at the annual gem and mineral show.
Each year, the event attracts rock hounds, jewelers, university faculty and staff, kids and everyone in between to check out different specimens on display or for sale, learning opportunities with special guest speakers and hands-on digging experiences. Kids can also pick up a free Gem and Mineral grab-bag or use a metal detector to find copper hidden in the sandbox.
The gem and mineral show features local artists such as the Stimac’s Nature’s Way Woodworking, which specializes in creative works of art.
The event takes place over three days at Hancock High School gymnasium in 2026. The show invites the entire community, from experienced collectors to amateurs just starting their identification journey.
