One man is dead and a woman was rescued following a shooting incident in Ontonagon County on September 12th.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of Depot Street in Greenland around 5:15 p.m. for a reported gunshot wound. A responding deputy safely removed a woman from the home and brought her to emergency medical personnel staged nearby.
Officers later located the male suspect inside a vehicle on a neighboring property. He was pronounced dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident remains under investigation. The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office thanked law enforcement partners, including the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Houghton City Police, Michigan State Police, EMS providers, Aspirus Medevac, the medical examiner’s office, Cane Funeral Home, and Hulk Towing for their assistance at the scene.
