- At a triangular at Forest Park, Houghton fell to the host Trojans 3-1 (25-11, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17). The Gremlins swept North Dickinson 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-23).
- Hancock won a 3-2 (25-16, 16-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8) thriller over Calumet.
- At a triangular at Jeffers, the host Jets defeated Chassell 2-0 (25-10, 25-17). For Chassell, Elli Kuntze had 10 kills and 15 digs, Sylvia Aho had 13 digs, 10 assists and 1 kill, Oriana Olson had 8 digs and 1 kill. Jeffers blanked Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 2-0 (25-12, 25-16). Hannah Keranen had 5 kills for the Blue Bolts, and Sylvie Kentala had 13 digs and 9 assists. Dollar Bay-Tamarack City defeated Chassell 2-0 (25-16, 25-13). For the Blue Bolts, Keranen had 6 kills. Kiya Kemppainen had 9 digs and 9 service points including 3 aces. Sylvie added 9 service points and 3 aces, along with 13 assists. For Chassell, Kuntze had 8 kills and 2 aces, Skye Isaacson had 11 digs and 1 kill, and Aho had 9 assists and 6 digs.

The Tigers’ late-season surge continued with a 10-1 victory over the Blue Jays last night. Drew Anderson earned the win with five shutout innings. Spencer Torkelson and Hau-Yu Lee homered. Torkelson drove in three runs and scored three times.
The Tigers have won six straight, and visit the Blue Jays again this afternoon. Keider Montero will return from paternity leave to start against Max Scherzer. Coverage will begin at 2:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Double-A Minor League playoffs are underway, and Detroit’s Erie Seawolves farm team swamped the Richmond Flying Squirrels 18-6 last night. The game was notable because Detroit prospect Luke Shliger hit two grand slams.
The Brewers clinched their fourth straight National League Central Division title with a 5-1 victory over the Pirates last night. Jacob Misiorowski struck out seven over five shutout innings. The Crew scored four runs in the sixth inning, powered by a Luir Lara RBI double, and a two-run Joey Ortiz single.
The Brewers visit the Pirates again tonight. Logan Henderson will pitch against Jared Jones.
Milwaukee reliever Bryse Wilson has begun a rehab stint at Nashville. He’s missed a couple of weeks with lower back stiffness.
NFL
The Lions will be without backup running back Isiah Pacheco until at least December. Pacheco landed on the injured list during training camp with an MCL strain. That has healed, but he underwent surgery on Monday to address a back issue.
