The Portage Health Auxiliary announced Wednesday it is accepting grant applications from local nonprofits during its spring funding cycle.
The auxiliary’s mission focuses on improving the health and well-being of elderly residents and youth in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties through partnerships with community organizations.
Grant funding comes from purchases made at the Portage Health Auxiliary Gilded Rose Gift Shop, located inside UP Health Systems Portage Hospital in Hancock.
Applications for the grant cycle open April 20 and close May 20. Potential grant recipients can pick up applications at the gift shop or contact Barb Worrall for more information.
The auxiliary expects to announce grant awards in June.
Organizations seeking funding should demonstrate how their programs will directly benefit elderly residents or youth in the four-county service area. More details are available online.
