High School
In high school softball yesterday…
- Lake Linden-Hubbell swept Calumet 13-8 and 11-9. In the opener, the Lakes built an early 7-0 lead. The Copper Kings responded with eight straight runs, but Lake Linden scored six in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim the advantage, held Calumet scoreless in the sixth and seventh. Cleo Milkey drove in four runs for the Lakes with three hits, including a triple. Ashlyn Steves had three hits and three RBI. Payton Goldsworthy struck out 14. Bethany Garrow had three hits and drove in five runs for the Kings. In the nightcap, Calumet built a 7-3 mid-game advantage, but Lake Linden broke through with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, and four more in the bottom of the sixth. Taylor Goldsworthy hit a home run and scored three times for the Lakes. Steves had two hits and scored three times. Garrow had three more hits for Calumet, including a triple. Chloe Coppos had three hits and scored three times.

In NBA tournament opening-round matches yesterday…
- The Cavaliers turned back the Raptors 115-105. Cleveland leads that series 2-0.
- The Hawks shaded the Knicks 107-106. That set is tied 1-1.
- The Timberwolves got past the Nuggets 119-114. That series is tied 1-1.
Tonight…
- The Celtics host the 76ers. Boston leads that series 1-0.
- The Trail Blazers visit the Spurs. San Antonio has a 1-0 lead in that set.
- The Lakers welcome the Rockets. L-A is up 1-0 in that set.

In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
- The Flyers blanked the Penguins 3-0 to take a 2-0 lead in their opening-round series.
- The Hurricanes slipped past the Senators 3-2 in double overtime. Carolina leads that set 2-0.
- The Stars stopped the Wild 4-2. That series is tied 1-1.
- The Oilers got past the Ducks 4-3 to win the opening game of their series.
Tonight…
- The Lightning welcome the Canadiens. Montreal leads that series 1-0.
- The Bruins visit the Sabres. Buffalo is up 1-0 in that set.
- The Golden Knights host the Mammoth. Vegas has a 1-0 lead in that series.
- The Avalanche entertain the Kings. Colorado holds a 1-0 advantage in that set.
MLB
The Tigers lost an 8-6 decision to the Red Sox yesterday afternoon. Jack Flaherty struggled into the fourth inning, but managed to hold Boston to two unearned runs. The game was tied at three after six, but the Sox scored five runs in the seventh and eighth off Drew Anderson and Tyler Holton to take command. Detroit got three back in the top of the ninth with help from a two-run Riley Greene bloop double, but Dillon Dingler struck out to end the game.
The Tigers host the Brewers tonight. Keider Montero will start against Kyle Harrison. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers had yesterday off.
