In the NBA tournament last night…
- The Knicks routed the Hawks 140-89. New York wins that series 4-2.
- The 76ers outscored the Celtics 106-93. That series is tied 3-3.
- The Timberwolves dispatched the Nuggets 110-98. Minnesota takes that series 4-2.
Tonight…
- The Pistons visit the Magic for another must-win game. Orlando leads that series 3-2. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift. Detroit might be without Tobias Harris and Kevin Huerter. Both are listed as questionable – Harris sprained an ankle in Wednesday’s game, and Huerter missed that contest with a left adductor strain.
- The Raptors welcome the Cavaliers. Cleveland leads that set 3-2.
- The Rockets host the Lakers. Los Angeles has a 3-2 series lead.
The Bucks have formally introduced Taylor Jenkins as the team’s new head coach. Jenkins coached the Grizzlies from 2019-2025 and led them to three playoff appearances. He was also an assistant on coach Mike Budenholzer’s Milwaukee staff in 2018-2019. Jenkins replaces Doc Rivers, who stepped down at the end of the season.
NHL
In the NHL playoffs last night…
- The Wild defeated the Stars 5-2. Minnesota wins that series 4-2.
- The Ducks dumped the Oilers 5-2. Anaheim takes that series 4-2.
Tonight…
- The Canadiens welcome the Lightning. Montreal leads that series 3-2.
- The Bruins host the Sabres. Buffalo has a 3-2 series lead.
- The Golden Knights visit the Mammoth. Vegas leads that set 3-2.
MLB
The Tigers salvaged one game from their set against the Braves with a 5-2 victory yesterday. Framber Valdez gave up two runs over six innings, but the Tigers were trailing when he left the game. Detroit came from behind with two runs in the top of the eighth, and two more in the top of the ninth. Matt Vierling drove in a run in each of those innings with a double and a single. Drew Anderson turned in two scoreless innings to get the win in relief, and Kyle Finnegan got the save.
The Tigers open a home set against the Rangers tonight. Jack Flaherty will start against MacKenzie Gore. Because of Pistons basketball, Tigers coverage will begin at 6:15 on KBear 102.3.
The Brewers walloped the Diamondbacks 13-1 yesterday. William Contreras had four hits, including a home run. He drove in four runs, and scored three times. Sal Frelick also homered. Starter Brandon Woodruff left after facing just six batters. He reported no discomfort, but was unable to throw his fastball anywhere close to its usual speed. The team is awaiting results from an MRI. ShanE Drohan allowed a run over four innings of relief, and earned the win.
The Brewers visit the Nationals tonight. Jacob Misiorowski will pitch against Jake Irvin.
