Students will join as the next class of alumni of Gogebic Community College today as the institution holds its 92nd commencement ceremony this evening.
The graduating class will receive more than 220 degrees and certificates, including nearly 125 associate degrees and 97 certificates.
Mark Jurakovich will deliver this year’s commencement address. Jurakovich attended Gogebic Community College following a career in the United States Air Force, serving as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal expert. He graduated from the college in 2013, earning an associate of arts in education.
Jurakovich excelled both academically and athletically while at GCC, helping lead the basketball team to two Region 13 championships while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He earned the National Junior College Athletic Association Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence the year he graduated.
In 2016, Jurakovich returned to serve the United States as the Functional Field Manager for the Air National Guard EOD program.
