A Houghton woman will face charges related to the deaths of two motorcyclists on US-41.
The Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office charged Sze Wenn Tiang, 45, of Houghton, with two counts of moving violation causing death and one count of operating a vehicle with an expired license. All counts were charged as misdemeanor offenses.
On August 5, Tiang was traveling south on US-41 when she failed to see a vehicle ahead of her attempting to turn onto Golf Course Road. To avoid a collision, Tiang swerved into the northbound lane, where she struck two motorcyclists traveling north. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were identified as Kimberly Wooldridge, 36, and Raymond Alton Miller, 65, both from Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Tiang was arraigned in 97th District Court on three misdemeanor-level charges. Counts one and two carry maximum one-year sentences, while operating a vehicle with an expired license carries a maximum 90-day sentence.
