The City of Houghton has announced the return of the Potato Festival which will take place on Saturday Oct. 24, 2026. The new and improved iteration of Potato Fest will take place not only at the downtown waterfront like most Houghton events, but feature an all-new exhibition at the Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw as well.
Starting at noon and extending until 4 p.m., the Carnegie display will open its doors, featuring a history of agriculture in the Copper Country, including information on potatoes. In addition, potato-themed crafts and activities will be offered.
The other portion of Potato Fest starts at 3 p.m. at the downtown waterfront. Music from local bands as well as more spud-themed activities and food are some things you can expect. The Festival will also host the Potato Games, a set of tasks designed to test the contestants’ knowledge and love of ‘taters and earn the opportunity to be crowned Potato Royalty for the next year.
The event is free and open to all and the City of Houghton encourages everyone to attend to join in the fun.
