U.S. Senators to Michigan Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin are announcing that fire departments across Northern Michigan are going to be receiving over $2.1 million in grant funds combined for capital improvement projects sourced from FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) program.
One of the departments that will benefit from the AFG grant is the Village of Lake Linden Fire Department, which is slated to receive over $285k to be used for new vehicle acquisition.
“Firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line to protect Michiganders. It’s absolutely essential that we provide them with the tools needed to do their jobs safely,” said Senator Peters. Peters is co-chair, and Slotkin is a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, which works to advance initiatives which support first responders.
More information on the Assistance to Firefighters program can be found on the FEMA website.
